The Maxwell-Gunter Base Education Center specializes in adult education opportunities. The Base Education Center is the focal point for all education programs at Maxwell and Gunter.  Professional guidance counselors are available for both active duty and dependents on an appointment basis regarding adult educational opportunities at local and distant schools. Other Education opportunities available range from high school completion programs to vocational schools. GED testing is not offered on base.

The Education Services Center provides a multitude of educational services and degree program opportunities from associates through master degree levels for all military personnel, their families, and DOD civilian employees. Troy Montgomery and Auburn Montgomery offers courses on the installation through the Base Education Office.

The Education Center is an official DANTES testing site that offers a wide variety of testing opportunities, from the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) to examinations for the Air Force Institute for Advances Distributed Learning and professional military education courses.

All active duty members and their family members are exempted from paying out of state registration fees.
