The Maxwell and Gunter Youth Centers' programs offer activities for youth ages 5 to 18. Children under 9 years of age must be participating in an organized activity or accompanied by an adult. Youth can participate in fall and spring soccer, National Football League flag football, basketball, baseball and swimming. The centers also provide well-rounded instructional and social programs with activities. Christmas, spring break and summer day camps are also available at both facilities.
The Gunter Youth Center offers classes in Karate, dance, fine arts and piano. The center has a half-court gymnasium, television area and snack bar. The School Age Program is located in the School Age Center across the street from the Youth Center.
The Maxwell Youth Center has a full-court gymnasium, television area, and game room, classrooms and study area. Piano classes are also offered. The School Age Program is located in the Youth Center.
Membership Benefits:
- Cost is $60 which really breaks down to $5 a month for over 900+ possible hours of activities, care, and events.
- Scholarship opportunities in the Youth Employment Skill (Y.E.S.) and Youth of the Year programs.
- Reduced fees or no fees to participate in entertainment, educational and recreational opportunities.
- Enrollment into 4H program-leads to beneficial learning opportunities through 4H partnership schools such as Auburn University and Alabama A&M University. Such events include Auburn sporting events, equestrian programs, Jr. Master Gardening, and more.
- Participation in beneficial clubs and activities-Garden Club, Photography Club, Torch and Keystone Club, Cooking Club, Youth of the Year.
- Being a member makes youth eligible to register for instructional classes-Tae Kwon Do, Piano, Dance, and Performance Arts classes.
- Participate in special trips and functions such as lock-ins, Teen Outings, tournaments, out of city tips(Six Flags, Alabama Adventures, Sloss Fright Furnace, etc.)
- Be a part of a Boys and Girls Club and participate in BGCA events and required activities.
